Half Marathon!!!

So some of you might know that I decided to run the Salt Lake City Half Marathon. It was all Snelgrove's idea and she completely forced me into it! (not really but I do like to blame my pain on her!) Anyway I then conned Emma from work into running it with me! My goal was to never stop and walk and to make it under 2.5hrs....without hardly any training (the furthest I ran was just under 7miles) I completed both of my goals! Looks like I don't have to run next year!!!!

Here is Emma and I stretching before I ride came to get us! The stretching was more for a picture than actually the point of stretching!

Now I don't have all the photos from the event but we did manage to take one via cell phone at the finish line so sorry but this is all I have for now! It was super windy that day, which turned out to be a good thing since the wind was at our backs for the majority of the run! I have a super bad knee which started hurting after 5 min of "running". Emma stuck with me the whole time and once I wanted to die at mile 11 she pushed me to the finish line to accomplish both of my goals! I couldn't have done it without her! Thanks Emma!!!!!
I don't have the pictures but I did also run with Snelgrove, Cameron and his family. We pretty much only saw Cameron's family at the start and finish line...they might live at sea level but they definitely kicked out butts! Lynds and Cam were just behind us...we gave up listening to people compliment them on their super cool 'Office' t-shirts! I can't believe we all finished...and we're all walking today! We might walk a little funny but I ran double the distance I've ever run before! I'm not one of those people that now has the bug to continue on the better my time...I'm one of those people that is in disbelief she finished and can now check that off of my "to-do list"!!! Yea me!!!!!

Dummy Downhill

Every year in the spring time at Snowbird we like to put on the Dummy Downhill! They set up a jump in Gad Valley and all the different departments create a "dummy" and we send it off the jump! They have free pizza and drinks and we all go out to support!

This year I didn't think I would make it up because I wasn't working that day but as the day went on I surprisingly ventured up there to drop Emma off to work. As you can tell I was not dressed for the occasion! It was 85 down in the valley so flip flops worked perfectly...until I found myself trying to walk on the snow! Here is Ken T and I enjoying a good crash! Here is the ticket office with their dummy. Their's was one of the only ones that actually made it off the jump! It was so warm up there that day that the snow was complete slush and made it difficult for the dummies to stay on path to make it off the jump!
Here is my favorite...it's the Tram Shop's so I'm not bias or anything! We named it Bob's Wild Ride! It has completely nothing to do with the owner of Snowbird falling earlier this season while he was hiking and then needed to be Life Flighted to the hospital! It didn't make it off the jump but it did win for most creative ;)

Overall the dummy downhill is so much fun and definitely a day to look forward to at the Bird!

Salt Lake Real

Ems and I are such good employees that we often get free tickets to things our bosses don't care to go to, like Real tickets! They gave us 4 but our friends bailed on us an hour beforehand so Emma and I had our own date night :) although she kept getting the eye from people sitting around us, I think they were trying to get up on my girl ;) (it was all the little kids sitting by listening to her funny English accent)
And how could we not get a photo of the gorgeous stadium?!?! I think you locals really take your mountains for granted...they're seriously RIGHT there! It's breathtaking! And occassionaly we watched the cute boys play footy ;) They won 4-0!

Gelande

So it's become that time up at the Bird when the skiing is sub-par but the company can't get any better! This weekend they had the Gelande so Emma and I went up for the finals to go support! They had a special tele division with 3 contestants; all of whom are our friends! The first place went to Ty (a local) second and third went to Miller and Josh both on ski patrol.

Here is Emma and I hanging out to watch their take offs!We stayed at the take-off spot (even though the landing was a better view) because Alex, the sunshine of my life was holding down fort there! Her and Emma giving each other a cuddle ;)

And finally what we were there to watch! Check out their outfits!!! Ems and I were a little slack and missed our friends jump so here is a picture of one of the pros.
And how could we not snag a photo of cute Miller in his killer get-up! He claimed the world record for longest amateur tele jump! He held the record for about 60 sec before Ty came along and beat him but no worries Miller we're still super proud of you! And if nothing else, you stole the show for best outfit :)

Makes you think...

So not too long ago and just a couple blogs ago, I filled you guys in with a pretty good ski accident I had. Looking back on that day I really do believe I was being well watched over! My mom called me the next day and demanded that I be more careful. Apparently that weekend she had the impression to put me on the temple prayer list (what!?!?!?!?). Yesterday we had a ski patroler/friend skiing one of his favorite runs and he accidently hit a tree and needed to be life flighted out. He is suffering extensive injuries such as a skull fracture and internal bleeding. Everyone was a wreck after he was flown to the hospital, which had they not taken the helicopter he would not have lived!

It's amazing to think the tolls we put our bodies through! He is my second friend in the hospital after a skiing accident and they are both much better skiers than I am! I was definitely being watched over the day of my tumble and I'm truly grateful for it! Yesterday's unfortunate event has really humbled me and I just wanted to let everyone know how much I truly love them and I feel blessed to have all of you guys in my lives being the examples you are to me! (sappy I know but just go with it!)
