Hiking Saddleback

So the other day I was reading an article in and OC Magazine and they had 39 things you had to do if you visit/live in OC. Going through the list, I was surprised that I had done pretty much everything. Something I hadn't done that sounded fun was hiking to the peak of Saddleback Mtn, it's the highest peak in OC so I found some avid hikers and started our journey...

I'm stoked we did this hike in November, rather than the middle of the summer...there were less bugs and the weather was absolutely perfect! Oh and I was able to find some leaves changing colors. Not as many as you'd find in Utah but still impressed I found some!

Trying to distract myself from the heavy breathing and pain I'm in by taking a picture...

8 miles, 4,000 vertical feet, and 3hrs and 13 minutes later Rachelle and I finally reached the peak!

I'm such a geek but check out these cool/ghetto looking scopes they had on the peak! They had whatever you were looking at engraved on top so you knew that island in the distance was really Catalina. I was impressed and obviously entertained!

Even though I had already hiked 16 miles, I encouraged the rest of the gang to check out the waterfall...not exactly what I had in my mind but the cold water felt lovely on my blisters :)

I'm offically the only Armstrong female (my dad takes the male spot) to have summited this peak and I feel pretty proud of myself. Everyone keeps asking if I like to hike and inviting me on other hikes....I've decided I just like a good challenge. My body isn't stoked on this but even with blisters and very sore calves, thighs and everything else I made it through TKB 2 days later so I figure I'll recover just fine. Any ideas for my next challenge???
